Day 1: Reaching Haridwar, the Char Dham's entrance

Your journey begins in Haridwar, one of the holiest cities in India. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend the evening attending the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. This spiritual spectacle sets the tone for your sacred adventure.

Distance: Delhi to Haridwar – 220 km (6-7 hrs by road)
Overnight: Haridwar

Day 2: Haridwar to Barkot (via Mussoorie)

Start early and head towards Barkot, a peaceful hill town and base for the Yamunotri temple. En route, stop by Kempty Falls in Mussoorie for a refreshing break. After reaching Barkot, rest and prepare for your first dham.

Distance: Haridwar to Barkot – 180 km (7-8 hrs)
Overnight: Barkot

Day 3: Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot

Today is a significant day as you visit Yamunotri, the source of the Yamuna River. Drive to Janki Chatti and trek 6 km to reach the temple. Additionally, you can rent a palanquin or a pony. Offer prayers, take a dip in the holy waters of Surya Kund, and return to Barkot by evening.

Day 4: Barkot to Uttarkashi

Drive to Uttarkashi, home to many ashrams and the famous Vishwanath Temple. This spiritual town is also the gateway to Gangotri. Explore local temples and rest for the night.

Distance: Barkot to Uttarkashi – 100 km (4-5 hrs)
Overnight: Uttarkashi

Day 5: Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi

Set out early for Gangotri, where the holy Ganga River originates. Harsil Valley, renowned for its apple orchards and breathtaking scenery, is traversed throughout the picturesque journey. Pray, visit the Gangotri Temple, and take in the Himalayan spiritual atmosphere.

Distance: 100 km one way (3-4 hrs)
Overnight: Uttarkashi

Day 6: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi

This will be a long drive, so start early. The holy Vishwanath and Ardhanarishwar Temples are located in the charming town of Guptkashi, which is close to Kedarnath. After arriving, have some time to relax and get used to the travel to Kedarnath the following day.

The distance:220 km (8–9 hours) from Uttarkashi to Guptkashi.

Day 7: Guptkashi – Kedarnath

Take a morning drive to Gaurikund, the base for the Kedarnath trek. Begin your 16 km trek to the Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and a major highlight of the Chardham yatra. You can also use helicopter services for quicker access. After darshan, stay overnight in Kedarnath.

Overnight: Kedarnath

Day 8: Kedarnath – Guptkashi

Drive back to Guptkashi after starting your descent to Gaurikund following morning prayers at Kedarnath. This day gives you time to rest and reflect on the divine experience.

Trek + Drive: 16 km + 30 km
Overnight: Guptkashi

Day 9: Guptkashi to Badrinath

Next, head towards Badrinath, the final dham in your Chardham yatra. The drive passes through scenic mountain routes including Joshimath. On arrival, visit the Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and take a holy dip in the Tapt Kund before darshan.

Distance: Guptkashi to Badrinath – 210 km (8-9 hrs)
Overnight: Badrinath

Day 10: Badrinath – Rishikesh – Haridwar

Start your return journey. On the way, visit Mana Village, the last village before the Indo-Tibetan border. Reach Rishikesh by evening and experience the calming Ganga Aarti one last time before heading back to Haridwar or your onward destination.

Distance: Badrinath to Rishikesh – 300 km (10-11 hrs)
Overnight: Optional in Rishikesh or onward journey
